The SAFE foundation has dedicated itself tirelessly to provide long term strategies of relief to remote areas whose needs could not be met by larger organisations. Inspired by founder Lucy Dickenson’s experiences during her travels to Uganda, Rwanda and Mongolia, SAFE has grown to accommodate the requirements of developing projects alongside its own.
Campaigns that assist in the long term reduction of poverty, increased health care and education in rural areas of Uganda, Cambodia, India, Ghana and even within the UK have raised the profile of this incredible organisation, and achieved recognition of the NGO as a charity in 2007 with Lucy receiving the accolade of the UnLtd Millennium award. SAFE has grown to incorporate the needs of a number of specialised projects across the globe and gain international recognition.
It is with this in mind, that Nice ‘n’ Naughty, the award winning adult retail specialists whose own contributions to charity have been numerous and included many personal ventures from our founder and MD Simon Prescott, became involved with SAFE and held in benefit of their work, the X-RAY SPEKZ event in September 2012. Inspired by local burlesque dancer Ruby Roseblade’s recent involvement with the charity in India, the event featured the talents of Burlesque dancers and alternative club night DJ’s Psycho:Drama. The evening’s entertainment was met with great success and a total of £200 was raised for the charity who had been rocked by tragedy as founder, Lucy Dickenson’s life was cut terribly short during travels in Zambia.
The continued efforts to maintain and expand SAFE’s presence in the developing world are a testimony to the dedication not only of Lucy but to the rest of her team. Nice ‘n’ Naughty would like to take this opportunity to show our respect and admiration for SAFE’s work and for the persisting efforts of the foundation, who have persevered during a time of tremendous difficulty to continue to supply aid and raise awareness of the plight facing many remote sections of the developing world.
