Vaginal dryness can be caused by a number of different things, including diet, stress and illness, and one fifth of all women suffer from it. Luckily though, there are plenty of things that you can do to help alleviate it, and Nice ‘n’ Naughty have some options for you to try below.
1. Lube – You may think we’re bias, but we are such an fan of treating your vagina with respect and lubricating it before use. Even if you don’t have vaginal dryness, we always recommend it, but even more so if you’re a little drier. If you’re a little sensitive, we recommend a great quality, gentle water-based lubricant such as System Jo Agapé lubricant for women – specifically for vaginal dryness.
2. Check your allergy medication – Some antihistamines can cause vaginal dryness. If you need the medication, however, you can talk to your GP and they can recommend some alternatives.
3. Moisturise – Moisturising is different to lubricating. Never put moisturiser inside the vagina as you can upset the natural pH. However, hair removal can sometimes contribute to dryness as the hair creates a natural barrier and can keep everything moist. (Sorry).
4. Moreplay of the foreplay – It might just be a case of playing more before sex – especially penetrative intercourse. Ask your partner if you both can enjoy more foreplay, they’re not likely to say no. Explore various erogenous zones such as the ear lobes, anus, nipples and neck in order to get you hot and bothered.
5. Go to your GP – If you suffer from any redness, or especially itchiness, that can sometimes be a sign of an underlying condition or infection which can contribute heavily to dryness. Make sure to see your doctor if you’re unsure – and don’t be shy, they’ve seen it all before.
